Legacy Community Health is not a large, research‑driven medical institution like MD Anderson and it shouldn’t be positioned as one. That’s not who Legacy is, and it is not what makes the organization essential to the city of Houston.
Legacy’s power comes from being a true community health partner: deeply rooted, deeply trusted and genuinely connected to the people it serves. Care at Legacy is personal and relationship‑driven.
Inspired by Life Magazine, Legacy’s spirit mirrors the iconic publication. Life did not glamorize or fabricate; it revealed humanity with honesty, warmth and unfiltered truth. That same sensibility is at the heart of Legacy—real people, real moments, real impact.
Inspired by that visual legacy, I set out to capture the authentic personality of the organization. Through the lens of Pulitzer Prize winning photojournalist, Smiley Poole. We documented everyday life as it unfolds inside Legacy: Diverse and profoundly human. Each image tells a story, honoring the lived experiences that define Legacy Community Health and celebrating the vibrant community it has championed for decades.
I wrote the script for a public service announcement on Magic 102.5 FM in Beaumont, TX, designed to raise awareness about HIV prevention and connect with the community through clear, compassionate messaging. This led to a noticeable rise in community members turning to Legacy for HIV prevention ser
I developed a radio show for Legacy to spotlight critical conversations around health policy, Houston politics, and more. I encouraged the organization to be an early adopter in building its own media platform, empowering them to shape narratives, influence stakeholders, and connect directly with the community.
Thanks to my strong relationships with local media, Legacy received significant media coverage between May and December 2014. The organization became part of the public conversation across major outlets, including the Houston Chronicle, local Houston TV and radio stations, the Dallas Morning News, and more. Much of this coverage helped elevate Legacy’s voice on critical health care policy issues, positioning the organization as a trusted advocate for accessible, community-centered care.
